Family Caregiver Program
The family caregiver program provides the following services to care recipients 60 years or older, and to adults ages 19-59 with a disability.
Our loan closet offers medical supplies (walkers, wheelchairs, canes, toilet risers, etc.) to our clients and the community at no cost. You do not have to be on our program to use this service, but you will need to come to our office to pick up loan closet materials.
We offer a support group once a month to our caregivers to help alleviate the stress that caregiving can cause. Our support groups vary; we have guest speakers, pot lucks, crafts and activities. Our guest speakers discuss many different topics pertaining to caregiving, including: Alzheimer’s and dementia, stress relief, elder abuse, legal issues, home health agencies, and many more. If you would like to attend our support group, but are not on our program, just give us a call!
This service is offered to the care recipients on our program. Our housekeepers perform light housekeeping (dusting, laundry, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens) two hours every two weeks, or about four hours a month. If a caregiver and care recipient live in the same household, our housekeepers clean the care recipient’s areas.
If you are in need of a few hours to go to an appointment, shopping, or to just take a break we can offer respite to clients on our program.
Supplemental services are offered to our clients and include home modifications (repairing stairs, ramps, installing safety bars, etc.), lawn mowing, snow removal, and transportation. Our transportation is to and from doctor’s visits only.
If the caregiver is unable to bathe their care recipient, or if their doctor recommends respite bathing we offer this service to clients on our program. Baths are given once a week at the home by a CNA or RN.
