Family Caregiver Program
The Family Caregiver Program provides the following services to individuals 60 years or older and to disabled adults ages 19 to 59.
Our loan closet offers medical supplies such as walkers, wheelchairs, canes, and toilet risers to our clients and the community free of charge. Please call for availability and arrange a time to collect loan closet materials.
Caregiver stress has a significant impact on the lives of those who take care of their loved ones. We offer a support group once every other month to help alleviate that stress. The support groups offer light refreshments and often have guest speakers that address important caregiver topics such as Alzheimer’s, Dementia, stress relief, elder abuse, legal issues, home health agencies, and many more. To attend our support group, just give us a call!
Housekeeping is offered to the participants in our program. Our housekeepers perform bi-weekly light housekeeping which includes sanitizing bathrooms and kitchen, dusting, laundry, vacuuming, and mopping.
A Matter of Balance
Matter of Balance (MOB) emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance. This is a free 8-session class, offered 4 times per year. Contact the Senior Center to sign up for the next class.
Supplemental Services are offered to individuals on our program and include lawn care, snow removal, and small home modifications, such as repairing stairs, adding ramps, or installing safety bars.
We offer personal care assistance to individuals in our program. Baths are given once or twice a week at the home by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Certified Nurse’s Assistance (CNA). Contact the Senior Center for more information.
