LANDLORD INFORMATION

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Section 8 program relies on privately owned housing landlords and owners to provide safe, sanitary and affordable housing.  We would like to thank you for participating as landlords for HCV families.  The following resources are available to assist prospective and current landlords in becoming knowledgeable of program requirements and documentation:

The Landlord Guidebook provides information to landlords about our Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Section 8 program.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. Due to ongoing funding constraints, the Cheyenne Housing Authority (CHA) is carefully managing available resources to continue to provide housing assistance to as many families as possible.

When rents increase, CHA’s HCV program is able to assist a smaller number families, which also reduces CHA’s ability to help landlords fill vacancies and provide consistent rental payments.

As part of our resource management effort, we respectfully ask landlords to carefully consider and if possible limit rent increase requests. We recognize that operating costs—including maintenance, insurance, taxes, and utilities—have continued to rise. However, limiting rent increases whenever possible helps to preserve affordable housing opportunities for families we both serve.

We sincerely appreciate your partnership and your continued commitment to providing quality housing for HCV participants. Your support makes a meaningful difference in helping us serve as many families as possible.
